Today the Supreme Court announced it’s 5-4 decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act as constitutional. This is possibly one of the largest decisions made in years when the direct impact to the lives of millions of Americans is considered.
In a nutshell, Americans will be mandated to buy health insurance and the insurance companies will be mandated to pay out 80-85% of all premiums in claims. There are many other parts of this massive 1000-page bill, including a ‘pre-existing condition’ clause and the ability of young adults to stay on their parents’ insurance until age 26.
