It was Saturday morning, but the First United Methodist Church’s Ministry Center on Newsom Street was almost as busy as a Sunday morning. An all-you-can-eat breakfast benefiting the Bread of Life Food Pantry began at 7. As soon as it was over at 10, the youth group began a car wash fundraiser to raise money for missions and activities.
Bread of Life Ministries Food Pantry is a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization member agency of the Regional East Texas Food Bank that began in November 2004. Their mission is to provide food assistance to individuals and families in need regardless of race, religion, color or sex. The Pantry’s clients are primarily senior citizens living on fixed incomes and low-income working families. It is strictly 100% volunteer-staffed with no paid staff. Bread of Life Ministries Food Pantry is open every Tuesday from 1-4 pm.
The First United Methodist Church Mineola youth ministry is committed to building relationships with teenagers and helping them to grow spiritually into young adults for the glory of God. The youth group has named itself “R.U.S.H.” which stands for Rise Up, Serve Him. They meet every Sunday 3-5 pm and are active in mission trips, camps, local community services, and more.
