Anyone who has been on the Loop in front of the middle and primary schools before or after school knows that it’s a traffic mess. Cars waiting to pick up children lined up along the shoulder, frequently extending as far back as the far end of the stadium parking lot from the primary campus. Class parties and other school-wide events at the primary school have been a parking nightmare because there is a severe shortage of parking. The school district is planning to finish construction of a parking lot before school starts to help alleviate the congestion and mess.
As it was explained to me, the existing parking lots directly in front of the school entrances will be expanded to the street, and the field in front of the cafeteria will be converted into a parking lot. The two inside driveways will be eliminated and there will be only one way into the parking area and one way out. The entrance will be on the middle school end of the complex, and the exit will be at the primary school end. The car line will now expand into the stadium parking lot instead of the road, as illustrated below.
With these improvements, hopefully frustration and accidents will be lowered significantly this school year.
Do you believe the new parking lot will eliminate the traffic and parking issues at the primary/middle school campus?
