First United Methodist Church Ends Vacation Bible School with a Jump

Local kids have been enjoying Vacation Bible School at First United Methodist Church this week. “Jesus gives us new life” was the theme of the week, illustrated by Hermie, a caterpillar who turns into a butterfly. The church hosted Starwalk of Dallas to bring a big finish to the program on Thursday. Children and staff alike enjoyed jumping and flipping on bungee trampolines to “fly” like Hermie.

Downtown Windows Get Gussied Up for Mineola Fire Department Rodeo

Nine downtown business fronts were decorated this week in the hopes of winning bragging rights in the Rodeo Spirit Rally. The rally is to celebrate the Mineola Fire Department Rodeo to be held today and tomorrow at the Fire Department Rodeo Grounds. The rodeo is a major fundraiser for the Mineola Volunteer Fire Department to keep it operating.

East Texas Men in Harmony Featured at Kiwanis Benefit Concert for The Eliminate Project

The Mineola Kiwanis Club hosted a concert Sunday night at the Lake Country Playhouse featuring the East Texas Men in Harmony to raise awareness and money for The Eliminate Project: Kiwanis eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus. An estimated $2000 was raised via ticket sales and a collection during the concert to help provide immunizations to mothers and infants in 40 countries that still face the fatal threat of maternal/neonatal tetanus, known as MNT.
