APET Pet Photo Contest Winners

Saturday afternoon at an event at the Golden Homestead, Cathy Pegues (artist) announced the winner of our Pet Portrait contest. She shared how very difficult it was to pick a winner since there were so many wonderful pictures submitted. She shared that she not only evaluated the pet but also her unique artist’s perspective on how the layout, position and colors would lend themselves to canvas. As a result, Cathy has decided to not only paint a 16 x 20 portrait of the winning photo, but will also paint a smaller portrait of the second place photo.
The winning photo was submitted by Cheryl Stephenson of Winnsboro. She submitted a wonderful tabby cat under an American Flag.
The second place photo was submitted by Miranda Crawford of Mineola. She submitted a soulful hound dog with a haunting facial expression.
Congratulations to both Cheryl and Miranda.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who participated in the contest as well as to Cathy for her generosity. As a reminder, Cathy will complete the oils, and the paintings will be awarded during the Sweet Potato Festival in Golden on Oct. 26. Details on timing will be provided.
We appreciate all of you who made this a successful fund raiser for APET SPCA.
