The Mineola Kiwanis Club hosted a concert Sunday night at the Lake Country Playhouse featuring the East Texas Men in Harmony to raise awareness and money for The Eliminate Project: Kiwanis eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus. An estimated $2000 was raised via ticket sales and a collection during the concert to help provide immunizations to mothers and infants in 40 countries that still face the fatal threat of maternal/neonatal tetanus, known as MNT.
Key Club members from all over east Texas met Saturday morning to train officers and plan events for the coming school year. Key Club is the high school branch of the Kiwanis Club. The meeting included an inspirational speech on leadership by Mineola Middle School principal Mike Sorenson and an introduction to members of K-Kids, the elementary school branch of Kiwanis.
