The rain may have cancelled the Homecoming parade Friday afternoon, but it didn’t dampen the spirit of the Yellow Jacket Nation.
The first halftime performance of the Mineola Yellow Jacket Band under the direction of Chris Brannan was met with a standing ovation Friday night. It was an encouraging sign for the award-winning director that looks to show Mineola and the band members themselves that the Yellow Jacket Band is its own entity and a Yellow Jacket force in its own right.

The dress codes at the Mineola ISD schools have been altered this year. I’ve sifted through them to help you get an idea for district policies, and to let you know what’s specific to each campus. If you have any questions regarding a policy, I encourage you to call the campus in question for clarification.
One of the discussions at the last Mineola ISD board meeting was about the standardized test results for last year. Words like dismal and unacceptable were used by board members to describe some of the results. There were a few “bright spots,” as superintendent Dr. John Fuller put it, but the scores were disappointing when considered broadly.
