When the city of Mineola bought the lot formerly occupied by the Magnolia House, one of the top priorities was to put public restrooms at the location. Of course our city, just like any other city, ran in to a few roadblocks along the way in getting the project complete.
At that point, the Meredith Foundation stepped in and put up the money to complete the public restrooms. The Meredith Foundation’s mission is to use its money to help the people of Mineola. They built the Mineola Civic Center and the foundation is very instrumental in other things in town like the Library, the Lake Country Playhouse and Select Theater and many, many other things.
The restrooms are located at the corner of Kilpatrick and Johnson Streets. They are big, clean, well-lit and should be easy to keep.
