Have you ever gone to post a link on Facebook, MySpace or wherever, and noticed that it takes up far too much room? Some places, such as Twitter, limit the number of characters a post can have, so why use up all of your space with a long URL?
We have just developed a URL shortening site. Here’s how it works. Go to http://gumbo.me and paste the long URL in the box. Then click the button and the site will give you a short URL to post instead of the long one. It is free, requires no sign-up and it is lightning fast.
Here’s an example. Suppose you want to post a link to this Yahoo sports story. The Yahoo URL is:
When I use Gumbo.me, I paste the long URL in and get this one in return:
Clicking either link takes you to the same place, but the Gumbo.me link is obviously smaller and less cumbersome. The link will never expire.
