This month’s citizen of the month admits that she comes from a long line of movers and shakers. That certainly makes sense, because when Holly Mischnick is not working in Plano as a firefighter, she can be found right in the middle of local high school sports and many other things in our town.
Below is a quote from her nomination:
She spends her holidays as a board member for Caring and Sharing ensuring that families in need have a blessed Christmas. Though she doesn’t yet have kids who play sports for MHS, she can be seen supporting her Yellowjackets at games — home and away. When there is a need, she is a familiar, constant face in the crowd, whether it’s coordinating donations for tornado victims or ensuring that families affected by hurricanes get donations from families in Mineola. As the first female firefighter in Mineola, she set precedent and made history for those that will follow.
On top of everything else, she has now been named a member of the School Board for Mineola ISD.
Holly is certainly deserving of this honor and it is our pleasure to bestow it upon her. Holly has received a $25 gift certificate to East Texas Burger Company, two movie tickets to the Historic Select Theater and a plaque from Hometown Trophies. Please join us in congratulating Holly Mischnick, Mineola Citizen of the Month for August, 2012.
