Is Whataburger Looking at Mineola? The Official Word.

Screen Shot 2013-08-20 at 1.17.52 PMFor months now, there have been many rumors swirling around about Whataburger coming to Mineola. We’ve had Whataburger people here walking around town. We’ve had one rumor after another swirling around our town, so I thought it might be a good time to talk to someone.

I called DKT Investments, the management company that owns 12, soon to be 13, Whataburger restaurants in East Texas. They are currently building #13 in Chandler.

I spoke with Dave Thomas, their Facilities/New Construction manager. His official word is that there is no official word at this time. To me, that means that they haven’t ruled Mineola out, but they could be still working on the long list of things that must be finalized before they can even start the preliminary workings of building a restaurant here. But, there is no official word, so we are still purely speculating.

The people at DKT are aware that many people in our town would like for us to have a Whataburger restaurant here. They are also aware of this poll. To that end, let’s let them know how interested we are.

Sign the petition below and every signature will be sent to management at DKT Investments. The more people who sign this petition, the better chance we have of opening their eyes and giving them direct knowledge of the level of interest that Mineola has in getting a Whataburger.

Also keep in mind that sharing and commenting on this page is a great way to show interest. We will make sure that management at DTK Investments sees this page.

This would be great news. If Lindale can survive with a Dairy Queen across the street from Whataburgers and have 6 or 7 other hamburger places to eat, then Mineola will also survive. It has been long time coming with new shops and new places to eat in Mineola. Whoooo Hoooooo

I’m not sure that Mineola needs another hamburger place. What we need are some good restaurants that are open in the evening and serve a variety of American food. A Cotton Patch CafĂ© would be a wonderful start.

Besides the namesake burger, I also love their biscuit and sausage gravy. … and, does anyone serve up a better-tasting medium Diet Coke?
