This article assumes that East Texans were affected by the down US economy. We’ve all seen signs of a weak economy, but perhaps not nearly as bad as some areas of the country. For instance, parts of urban Michigan now claim unemployment rates of 20% or more.
I’ve noticed in the past three or four weeks an uptick in traffic, retail sales and consumer activity in general, but that is based mostly on online activity. Drive in to Mineola on most any day and you will see lots of traffic downtown. People are getting out and it just seems to me to be on the rise.
