Broad Street Church of Christ hosted their fourth-annual Kidz Kloset on Saturday morning from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Families were welcomed with popcorn and invited to “shop” and get whatever clothes they needed. Community Outreach coordinator John Wilhite said that they put out whatever was donated to them, whether it was baby clothes, adult clothes, shoes, or tchotkes. The racks bowed under the weight of the clothes on them, and tables were stacked with pants and shorts.
By 7:45, 15 families had already visited. No registration or paperwork was required, and visitors were offered a loaf of bread, a can of Ensure, and a free book on their way out. Wilhite predicted that the room full of clothing would be empty by noon, as it has been every year thus far.
