East Texas Men in Harmony Featured at Kiwanis Benefit Concert for The Eliminate Project

The Mineola Kiwanis Club hosted a concert Sunday night at the Lake Country Playhouse featuring the East Texas Men in Harmony to raise awareness and money for The Eliminate Project: Kiwanis eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus. An estimated $2000 was raised via ticket sales and a collection during the concert to help provide immunizations to mothers and infants in 40 countries that still face the fatal threat of maternal/neonatal tetanus, known as MNT.

Whitetails Unlimited Hosts Fundraiser Banquet

The Lake Country chapter of Whitetails Unlimited hosted a fundraiser banquet on Thursday, August 15. Monies raised will go to youth education and activities, and to process game meat to give to the needy. There were raffle items, including a table especially for kids, a silent auction, and a live auction.

Methodist Ministry Center Hosts Benefit Breakfast, Car Wash

It was Saturday morning, but the First United Methodist Church’s Ministry Center on Newsom Street was almost as busy as a Sunday morning. An all-you-can-eat breakfast benefiting the Bread of Life Food Pantry began at 7. As soon as it was over at 10, the youth group began a car wash fundraiser to raise money for missions and activities.

Kiwanis 2013 Back to School Bash

The Mineola Kiwanis is having their annual Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 17 at the Methodist Ministry Center 8:30 – 12 pm. Students entering pre-kindergarten through fifth grade will be able to get backpacks filled with school supplies, eye exams, dental exams, nurse exams, and haircut coupons.

Yellow Jacket Football 2013 Season Begins

The Mineola Yellow Jacket football season officially began on Monday morning with the first two-a-day session. The players and coaching staff are excited for the season ahead and started training at full speed. There were good throws, good tackles, and good spirits throughout the practice.

Area Key Clubs Meet for Training, Planning

Key Club members from all over east Texas met Saturday morning to train officers and plan events for the coming school year. Key Club is the high school branch of the Kiwanis Club. The meeting included an inspirational speech on leadership by Mineola Middle School principal Mike Sorenson and an introduction to members of K-Kids, the elementary school branch of Kiwanis.

Sales Tax Weekend 2013
